Is there a step-by-step guide to developing custom REST endpoints?

Hi,

I’m modeling a process on Camunda for a project at work and the built-in REST endpoints though powerful and flexible still come short to fulfill the project requirements. I might need to develop my own custom REST endpoints, However, I couldn’t find a clear and comprehensive guide to do that.
