Oracle Will Charge for Java Starting in 2019

Camunda is based on Java.

Oracle Java will be not free anymore.

Any thoughts about it? Will Camunda still use Java?

Tnx!

You can use openJDK. The docker images are already using this: https://github.com/camunda/docker-camunda-bpm-platform/blob/master/Dockerfile

Thanx! Very good!

Oracle will force you to buy a license if you need a Java 8 service pack after the beginning of 2019.
You can continue to use the Oracle JDK 8 in its current version (1.8.0_181).
Or change to a newer version like Java 9, 10 or 11. Camunda guys are working on this (1).

Public updates of Java 6 and Java 7 are also not available for a long time (2013 / 2015).
A a valid maintenance contract is needed to get access to them.
