Getting Cannot create a session after the response has been committed while correlating a message event

Hi,

I have a message event in my BPM flow in my SpringBoot project, but I am not able to correlate it with Java API

Below is the code I wrote:

ProcessInstance startedProcessInstance = runTimeService
.createMessageCorrelation(requestBody.getMessageName())
.processInstanceBusinessKey(requestBody.getBusinessKey())
.setVariables(requestBody.getProcessVariables())
.correlateStartMessage();

But I am getting below exception:

SEVERE: Servlet.service() for servlet [dispatcherServlet] in context with path [] threw exception
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot create a session after the response has been committed

Please let me know how I can correlate message. I tried using the REST call -
http://localhost:8090/rest/message

Hi @abhidynmc,

I have some questions regarding your problem.

Are you trying implement a custom Rest endpoint when facing the issue? Receiving an Exception related to “sessions” and “responses” usually means you’re using some kind of web interface (Rest/UI).

If yes, can you provide the custom endpoint URL? Later versions of the Spring Boot Starter implement a CSRF prevention filter that maps to certain URL segments.

I am assuming that you use the Spring Boot Rest Starter for the second Rest call. If true, can you provide the logs when the NullPointerException occurs?

Is there any solutions for this ? As I’m trying the Camunda Enterprise, it is still showing the same error. Here is my version:
Camunda: 7.12.0-ee
Camunda Spring Boot Starter: 3.4.0
Spring Boot: 2.2.1.RELEASE

Please help to take a look

Actually, I’m able to find the root cause. The reason is I’m calling the REST API outside Camunda web and didn’t know the Authentication is switch off by default

I got it fixed by using JAVA APIs of camunda.

processEngine.getRuntimeService().createMessageCorrelation(messageName)
.processInstanceBusinessKey(businessKey)
.correlateAll();

when i am trying to access the camunda tasklist/admin/cockpit . Can you suggest if this can be fixed?

I got it fixed by converting my PUT api to Get. I am not sure why my setup is throwing errors for PUT and POST api.
