Http-connector and assigning output results to an instance variable

This example is very helpful and I am making progress.

The service results are now collected in the instance variable and we are now attempting to figure out the proper way to navigate the JSON nodes to select the data parts we want from that result set.

We are looking for some good references to understand the .prop, .elements, parsing.

We now have a working request and are able to parse the JSON.

Since your examples are so great …

Do you have examples of:

1. The ability to parameter-ize the url input parameters from a business flow instance and
2. A way to capture/map many of the JSON values and store then into individual business flow variables

Example
Var 1 = node.element.prop1.value
Var 2 = node.element.prop2.value
etc

You could write

var carrier = S(response).prop("content").elements().get(0).prop("carrierAuthority");
var authority = carrier.prop("authority").value();
// do something

var number = carrier.prop("dotNumber").value();
// do something

as a micro optimization

To select the carrier, you could use json path (via S(response).jsonPath(...)) to make the code more concise.

FMCSA’s Mobile Developer Website and Web Services

The root of the url is: https://mobile.fmcsa.dot.gov/qc/services/
the endpoint is: carriers/44110/authority?
access key: webkey=longnumberhere

We would like to be able to:

1. use an instance variable in the endpoint like: carriers/$ { dotNumber } /authority?
2. use a variable to include the webkey value

So in the end, a url call something like:

https://mobile.fmcsa.dot.gov/qc/services/carriers/${ dotNumber }/authority?webKey=$ { accesskey }

Any ideas on how this might be accomplished?

This was working great on Camunda 7.5 and then I tried it on 7.6 and have run into the conector.setVariable issue and have tried the execution.setVariable as shared in this forum. I continue to get an error when trying to use the execution version instead of the connector version.

I can create many output variables and run a script for each output variable, but that seems like a lot of cut and paste and inefficient processing.

Are any of you still running into the execution/connector issue?

Test 6 is an iteration/attempt using the execution.setVariable
The image represents what tasklist displays upon starting the Test 6 process
I also tried some of the outputvariable.elementname as suggested in the workaround without any success also

Test 5 is creating multiple output variables and repeating the scripts

inside your connector script to handle the response, you need to use connector.setVariable(…) rather than execution.setVariable(…)

Thank you. However, I am confused about this. There is apparently a bug in version 7.6 that broke the connector.setVariable and was instructed in another post to use execution.setVariable.

Could you use the Output Mapping until the bug is fixed?

in your WsResponse connector output just change that to be a value of response;.
Then in the Input/Output tab, create an output that runs the script you previously used in the WsResponse, and change your code from connector.setVariable back to execution..

I cannot understand the parameters you have declared for the output variables.

I have declared the input variables as you have mentioned in the example.

I have written a REST API in my localhost, that returns a string “Hello world”. I need to capture this output from the Rest API and print that in the process instance or capture in a variable.

I am totally new to Camunda. Can you help me out?
